What is the difference between life coaching sessions and therapy?
The truth is depending on the provider, life coaching and therapy can be similar as far as goals go, which is usually to assist the client in making overall progress and increasing satisfaction in their lives. Both are also confidential. However, life coaching is more short term and very solution focused. Life coaching is not meant to be used to work with treating in depth trauma, suicidality or mental disorder diagnoses. Life coaching does not involve diagnosing. While life coaching can assist with making improvements in occasional symptoms of depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders, it is not therapy. My life coaching sessions are very affordable and ideal for people who want and need access to therapeutic services but do not have medical insurance or don’t have one of the more popular kinds. Without insurance, quality therapy can cost $150+ out of pocket.

How much does a life coaching session cost? Where does it take place?

Life coaching sessions are virtual, an hour long and $80 per session. If you would like to meet in person that can potentially be arranged for an additional $50 fee. There is also a bundle package available to book where you can commit to three sessions to be used at any time for $225, but this fee must be paid up in full at the time of booking.

How often should I come?
Depending on what you’re seeking services for, I typically recommend people start off doing life coaching sessions at minimum every two to three weeks. This will provide some consistency which is necessary to help build rapport between us and this will help you prioritize your wellness by having a space to discuss it on a consistent basis. However, you are the captain of this ship, I want my clients to feel comfortable booking as many or as little sessions as they would like based on what they feel like they need or receive from the sessions. After building some consistency, it is normal for clients to gradually schedule their sessions further out.

What sets me apart from other life coaches?

Being that I am a licensed therapist, life coaching with me allows you to have the best of both worlds in one professional. Learning and practicing the foundations of counseling, has allowed me to smoothly adapt and transition into life coaching. If you are unsure if you need therapy and not life coaching, I can evaluate what modality would best fit your needs as well as answer any questions you have about starting or pursuing therapy. Although I am not providing you with therapy, being that I am a mental health professional, all of my practices are still governed by the state of Illinois ensuring that you receive ethical and quality services. Life coaching in general is not governed by any sort of official board so to be direct, anyone can be a self proclaimed life coach and receive a certificate from an online program or website. Working with me ensures that you’re receiving services from someone who is professionally trained with the credentials to
prove it.

How do I go about booking a life coaching session? What does the process entail?

After you’ve thoroughly read through this page, send an email to [email protected] with your name and a brief description of what you’re seeking services for. After we agree upon a time, you will send your nonrefundable deposit within 24 hours. Failure to pay the deposit will result in your session being cancelled. Next, you will then be instructed to fill out a short questionnaire so I can be provided with some basic information. 48 hours before your session you will receive a text from me confirming the appointment. Before we begin the first session, I will have you read and sign a life coaching agreement which will have details regarding confidentiality, liability, and financial compensation. The first session will consist of me completing an assessment with you to gather more information in order to ensure this is the appropriate modality of services for you. We will then delve right on into what you’re ready to work on! For individually booked sessions, you will pay your remaining balance via cash app or zelle.

What happens if you think I need therapy over life coaching?

I am a huge advocate for therapy obviously so I will never accept a client that I feel needs long term or intensive therapy. When a person has a history of abuse, extensive trauma,
suicidal/homicidal ideations, or is suffering from a debilitating mental illness there is extensive work and treatment that needs to be done to heal or reach a place of stability to make life coaching effective. Substance abuse can also make life coaching ineffective which is another reason I may recommend a different treatment modality. I never want to do anyone a disservice. I make this evaluation based on the information I gather in the online questionnaire and the first session. In the event that I come to the conclusion that you need therapy instead of life coaching, I will provide you with a referral to a therapist and/or help you navigate the process of finding one.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

If you cancel your session, you will lose your deposit. If you reschedule your session up to 48 hours before your appointment, I will allow your deposit to be transferred to your next scheduled appointment. If you reschedule your appointment after the 48-hour window you will lose your deposit and have to pay another when you reschedule.

I want to see you for therapy how can I make that happen?

To inquire about seeing me for therapy, please email me [email protected]. You must have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, United Behavioral Health, or be willing to self pay. If you know me personally or we interact on social media, I cannot see you for therapy. You do have the option of booking a life coaching session. Check the Life Coaching tab for more information.

Do you take children or teenagers for life coaching?

I do not currently offer life coaching for anyone under the age of 21. I do provide therapy through the practice mentioned above for teens and young adults between the ages of 16-20. For more information on how to seek that service, click the therapy tab at the top of the page.
